UX Designer

As a user experience designer at Caxy, you will be a member of a cross-functional team working with project managers, product owners, visual designers, developers and project stakeholders to design new user interfaces and workflows, refine existing ones, and improve overall interaction and user experience at a project level. At a company level, you will play an active role in identifying new UX strategies for Caxy to explore, and you will contribute to the creation and maintenance of a consistent design language implemented across all projects.

This is a full time position, on-site in our Chicago office located in the South Loop.

Requirements

  • BA in graphic arts or a related field

  • Able to effectively prioritize daily, weekly and monthly tasks, and balance demands for deliverables from more than one project at a time

  • Available to work onsite at the Caxy offices during our regular business hours

  • Able to work within a team environment as well as independently as needed

Responsibilities

  • Lead UX strategy, planning, and execution of digital and mobile customer experiences on a project basis 

  • Evolve UX designs and planning for products with rapidly evolving demands through working with digital designers, lead developers, project managers, product owners, and stakeholders in an iterative ideation-to-collaboration-to-design process

  • Complete discovery exercises and create artifacts including (but not limited to) stakeholder interviews, customer research, personas, customer journey maps, and information architecture through interaction with client stakeholders and in coordination with a product owner and digital designer

  • Develop UI and interaction design specifications in coordination with a digital designer through the creation of user experience briefs, conceptual IA documentation, site maps, concept diagrams, user scenarios, user-flows, wireframes, visual comps, as well as rapid lo-fi and/or detailed high-fidelity interactive prototypes

  • Advocate for optimal user experiences, measured in terms of usability, intuitiveness, and ultimately, business success metrics across all projects you’re involved in

  • Advocate for industry standards, user-centered design principles, and innovative techniques and solutions across all projects

  • Other duties as requested

Core Competencies

  • Proficient to expert in information architecture, usability engineering and prototype engineering – 2+ years experience with UX in the digital space preferred

  • Proficient to expert understanding of current UI trends and interaction design/theory for both web and mobile – 2+ years experience preferred

  • Proficient to expert at responsive web design. Proficient to expert at interaction design and user centered/persona design. Proficient to expert understanding of graphic design, layout and typography for web

  • Competent knowledge of designing for B2B products

  • Competent knowledge of Photoshop, HTML, and CSS is preferred

  • Competent familiarity with and/or background in visual design is preferred

  • Experience with user testing and living style guides is preferred

  • Nice to have – Web development (front-end coding) and HTML coding experience
